Gordon Smith age 79 of Morley passed away August 15 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI. the son of Hudson and Ethel Dunn Smith. Gordon worked as a farmer and a mechanic most of his life as well as working in trucking for several years. He served on the Deerfield Twp. Board for many years. During the Korean conflict he served his country in the US Marines and was a member of the Morley American Legion Post # 554. He also served on the Morley Area Fire dept. for 52 years. He loved to help kids in the Morley area and work on Model trains. In 1957 he married Kay who survives . Also surviving are Three children Dennis ( Kathy ) of Morley Vernon ( Jeannie) of Stanwood Laurie ( David ) Buckley of Morley 9 Grandchildren a niece Brenda ( Gary ) Lambrix of Morley Brothers and sisters Morton Smith of Grand Rapids Jean Smith ( Bob ) of Grand rapids George ( Terry ) Smith of Lowell William Smith of Grand Rapids Nancy Smith of Grand Rapids and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Irene Hulst. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Heckman Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Bongard officiating with Burial in the Aetna Cemetery. Memorials to the Morley Area Fire Dept. may be left at the funeral home where friends may call today ( Friday ) evening from 7-9 pm and prior to services on Saturday
